Class Descriptions and Locations

GROUP CLASSES

The group classes are designed for participants at any level, from the beginner to the advanced practitioner. Each sequence is an invitation to explore the body you brought with you on that day; often we do not know what that is until we quiet the mind enough to listen to that sacred voice within. The classes will begin with an initial offering, which will be followed by suggestions as to how you might be able to take it further, until your body’s expression is complete. Along with the postures (asanas), there will always be breathing exercises (pranayama) offered and a relaxation (savasana) to complete the practice. Requests for specific body parts that need additional attention are always welcome, as well as personal favorites. Please see group class schedule for on-going times and locations.

All classes are mixed level, gentle flow, 1 hour or 1.25 hours.

Restorative- Seated or lying throughout, gentle movement and breathing.

NIDRA-Guided body Scan Meditation and breath work. (3rd Sunday of the month)

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION

Private instruction is available to examine and explore an individual’s unique needs. Modifications are always available for anyone with specific physical limitations and can be used as alternatives to poses in the group setting for a body that experiences on going restrictions or when a particular movement is not possible due to a recent injury or temporary limitation. An individual may also use this time design a daily practice, to learn how the breath affects to body’s experience, or to have a conversation about nutrition or patterns.

IN YOUR HOME OR OFFICE

Group or private instruction is available in your home or office if you are in the following areas: La Crescenta, La Canada, Altadena, Pasadena, Glendale, Tujunga, and Sunland. If your city is not listed above and you would like to know if instruction is available where you live or work, please contact me directly at cara@bod-ha.com.

K-8

Yoga Ed. is an educational program that combines a science-based exploration of the body, mind and self with the exercise system of yoga to support and enhance learning, health and personal responsibility. Yoga Ed. serves to help children be learning ready, physically fit, aware of self and others and confident. In the following 36-week program, the practice of yoga (defined here as a methodology for integrating movement and breath to strengthen, align and balance the body, focus the mind and soothe and recharge the nervous system) is informed by a study of the body’s systems, the mind-body interface and the impact and consequences of one’s behavior choices. Students learn how to move gracefully, breathe smoothly and deeply and sustain their focus and concentration, developing strength, flexibility, balance, mental clarity and emotional stability. Yoga Ed. presents this program as an effective and measurable methodology to achieve lifetime physical and mental health.
